Greetings from Rome!

Just a quick note to say that we arrived in Rome last night safe and sound, and with a very smooth journey! Just a few minutes ago our laptop picked up an unlocked wireless signal and we are very excited, but don't know how long it will last! So just a very brief summary of today for now:

We are having a great time despite the fact that it is SO HOT. We walked all over today and saw St. Peter's Square (with really long lines for both basilica and museums), the Pantheon (wonderful!!! my favorite so far), the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, several other churches that are less famous but still impressive, the Trevi fountain, the Spanish Steps (yawn), Piazza del Popolo, and various other sights along the way.

We had a much-needed siesta in the evening, then went for a late (not late for Italy) dinner that was absolutely delicious. After dinner we wandered back down to St. Peter's Square with the tripod and David got some nice night photos of St. Peter's Basilica.

Our B&B is great - the most important thing is that it is air conditioned! It is also quiet, clean, safe (we have about 5 keys for different gates and doors) and in a great location near the Vatican. Breakfast was not too impressive, but it was nice being up on the terrace with a view of St. Peter's dome.

We will do our best to keep this wireless connection and post more soon (including photos). If we're not successful, we'll try to find a cybercafe or something. But either way, you can be confident we're safe and having a great time! We will be home on Thursday night.

Ciao for now!
