New Car!

Wilma has served us well, but she has now been replaced! Saturday morning we got this lovely new car, which is a 2006 Toyota Corolla T3. (It doesn't have a name yet.) David took the train for over two hours to a city south of London to pick it up.

It's a "long-term car hire" (6 months, I think) that David found a great deal on. It is a turbo diesel and gets 60 miles to the gallon! It also has an excellent safety rating, good power, air conditioning, comfy seats, and doesn't smell like fuel. It's fantastic. It's also cuter than we expected - we didn't choose it for its looks and didn't pick the color.

We still have Wilma but David has found a company that will pick her up and give us some money for her, maybe as much as £100! It will be sad to see her go, but she really is in bad shape. The fuel smell is almost overwhelming, the brakes are bad and the clutch is about to go out. She wouldn't have passed MOT (equivalent of DEQ), which is due on June 30.

We plan to spend a whole lot of time on the road seeing as much of the UK as possible in the coming months, so it's really great to have a safe and comfortable car. It will vastly improve David's commute as well. We were so excited to drive it to fun places this weekend, but it has not stopped raining for two days straight! It is so disappointing. Must be because it is a holiday weekend - Monday is another bank holiday here. Are you getting the usual Memorial Day weekend rain back in the Pacific NW?

David snapped the top photo when we got back from the grocery store this morning. Below is a view of the "boot" - filled with PepsiMax, of course - taken at the same time and some more pics taken later without me blocking the view.
